Meeting transcripts without a bot: CaptionSnap vs Otter, Fathom, Fireflies, Granola and Notion

Most meeting note apps send a bot into the call or use your Mac's audio, and send the audio off to be transcribed. CaptionSnap saves the captions your meeting app already shows, so your call's audio is never recorded or sent anywhere. Those apps also write AI summaries; CaptionSnap keeps the exact words, which you can paste into any AI tool for a summary.

Questions

Does Microsoft Teams save live captions?
No. Teams shows live captions during the call and doesn't keep them. CaptionSnap saves them as a transcript on your Mac, with each speaker's name.
Can I get a Teams transcript without recording the meeting or a Copilot license?
Yes. When live captions are on, CaptionSnap saves them as a transcript. The meeting doesn't need to be recorded, and you don't need a Copilot license.
How do I get a transcript of a Google Meet call?
Turn on captions in Meet, in Chrome, Edge, Arc or Brave. CaptionSnap saves them with each speaker's name. No Workspace add-on needed.
Can I save Zoom captions?
Yes, when captions are on in the Zoom app or in the browser. The host decides whether captions are available.
Is there a meeting note taker without a bot?
CaptionSnap keeps a transcript without a bot and without recording audio. It doesn't write AI notes; paste the transcript into any AI tool for a summary.
